Monday: 13 easy PM on the Maine Half Marathon course with Jeff and Hugo. What a bear that race will be... the modified course is HILLY. Lift at lunch.
Tuesday: 13 easy in the early AM with Tim Rider, who I found out lives only a half mile from me! Excited to have another training partner so close to home. Fun paddle in Ferry Beach in the PM.
Wednesday: Some good dynamic stretching and a rollout and then 4 miles easy around BC, then the last BC 5k in a tempo-effort 16:12, and then a ~3 mile cooldown with Marc. Wanted another loop around BC at tempo effort but needed to hang around after the race to collect my award (four free pairs of shoes from MRC!) It's great that MRC holds this series every year... it's really a great service to the community. 10 miles total.
Thursday: Grabbed new kicks at MRC (Nike Structure Triax 16, didn't want to go low-profile with the Lunars anymore) and it literally felt like I was running on pillows out there. Cruised 17 out-and-back on the Maine Marathon course from MRC in 1:49 and change. Really awesome run, finished a little quick but didn't feel like I was pushing at any point. I hope the new shoes are all I needed in order to beat the soreness that's been plaguing me and work hard the next month in order to get in decent marathon shape. Lift and core at lunch left something to be desired.
Sunday: 17, the first 6 with Breagh on the dirt roads between Camden and Rockport and then 11 more out-and-back along Megunticook Lake from downtown Camden. Was on my feet for a full 2:24 so that was good training in that regard.
Total: 70 miles on 5 days. Not great marathon training but at this point, if I get a few solid workouts in and maintain my fitness, I'll be happy heading into the Maine Marathon. Not expecting miracles. Gonna focus a little more on the lifting aspect.
